Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention. SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! Dry skin. Redness (Further see Inhalation). Protective gloves. Protective clothing. First rinse with plenty of water, then remove contaminated clothes and rinse again. Refer for medical attention. EYES Redness. Pain. Safety goggles, face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor. INGESTION (further see Inhalation). Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Give nothing to drink. Refer for medical attention. SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Eliminate ignition sources. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT wash away into sewer. Do NOT absorb in saw-dust or other combustible absorbents (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus). Fireproof. Separated from oxidants, food and feedstuffs, combustible substances. Cool. Keep in the dark. Keep under inert gas. Airtight. Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs. PHYSICAL DANGERS: The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible. As a result of flow, agitation, etc., electrostatic charges can be generated. CHEMICAL DANGERS: May explosively decompose on shock, friction, or concussion. May explode on heating. The substance may spontaneously ignite on contact with air and on contact with hot surfaces producing toxic fumes of sulphur dioxide (see ICSC # 0074). Reacts violently with oxidants causing fire and explosion hazard. Attacks some forms of plastic, rubber and coating. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs): TLV: 10 ppm; 31 mg/m3 as TWA (skin) (ACGIH 1992-1993). ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion. INHALATION RISK: A harmful contamination of the air can be reached very quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20░C. EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE: The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Swallowing the liquid may cause aspiration into the lungs with the risk of chemical pneumonitis. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system. Exposure could cause lowering of consciousness. Exposure far above the TLV could cause death. See Notes. EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE: Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis. The substance may have effects on the cardiovascular and central nervous system , resulting in coronary heart disease and severe neurobehavioural effects, polyneuritis, psychoses (see Notes). Animal tests show that this substance possibly causes toxic effects upon human reproduction.
